Nvidia Graphics Driver Tips
I don’t know anything really about any other graphics card than Nvidia, but I have found a way to make my sl more stable while taking pictures using my Nvidia graphics card.
So anyway, here are my specs when it comes to hardware. You can find yours by going up to the Help Menu in whichever viewer you are using, and then selecting “About (your viewer name here)”.
These are mine:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz (2660.01 MHz)
Memory: 8152 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit (Build 7600)
Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 650/PCIe/SSE2
You can see I am using a pretty nice graphics card, and it is fairly new. However, for a while now, I have been crashing my graphics driver whenever I take pictures. This is very frustrating and annoying, so I googled my problem and discovered that if you only enable antialiasing in your preferences on your graphics card, your UI and your pictures will both be much smoother. I had enabled it on both my graphics card and also in sl. I soon learned that it causes the SL viewer you are using to not play so nicely with your graphics card, resulting in a driver crash.
I found the instructions I needed to tweak my graphics settings on this blog post. Please understand, this may not fix your problem if you are using a very low-end graphics card. I hope you have found this information useful. I felt so relieved when I found this, so I felt like I needed to share it with all of you.
