One Billion Rising in Second Life 2014

The 2nd annual One Billion Rising Event in Second Life starts today.  Visitors will be able to pick up a full schedule of events, a detailed map and gifts at landing point as well as be greeted by staff volunteers who will be stationed all through the regions.

Something I thought was pretty awesome, this year there will be an Open Mic session for those who wish to express themselves through poetry, in addition to the dance and music from some of Second Life’s best DJs.

Here is an excerpt from OBR’s official blog:

One Billion Rising for Justice in Second Life 2014

On February 14, 2014, men and women in Second Life will join activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities, and people across the world to Rise, Release, Dance for Justice as a show of unity, individual strength, and the need for change.

The objective of the event is to raise awareness, not to raise funds; however, information about real-world organisations will be available for those wishing to donate.

Take the time to really immerse yourself in each exhibit this year.

I did have a chance to take a quick snap of Press/Public Relations Coordinator Saffia Widdershins (Primperfect) and Host Rik Merlin. They were both kind enough to talk with me a little bit about the massive team work that went on behind the scenes, this year’s list of amazing sponsors and the collective efforts of a talented art community.

Do be sure to visit the One Billion Rising SL website for detailed information, schedule of events, and more.
